Yes, me and my Trek are together again! I picked it up fully assembled from Gerk's Ski & Cycle in Redmond this morning. They did an excellent job of assembling it. I gave it a test spin around town and it is running great! In fact it went so well, I managed to find a local casino and contribute $200 to the Redmond economy! :)
Tonight was check in at Redmond Elementary School, our starting/ending point for the ride. We received our cue sheets, t-shirt and safety triangle, met the staff working the ride and received the rules of the tour from our director, Tom Radley. We then had a scrumptious meal prepared by our caterer, Kathy Turner. After dinner, all of our bikes were packed into a truck for transport to our starting point tomorrow.
And now a new feature to the blog called What Will Gary Wear Tomorrow? It's a look at the kit I've chosen to wear for the next day's ride and some insight as to why. Sooooooooo....
What Will Gary Wear Tomorrow?
I will be wearing my TNT training jersey. Every week-long tour I've ever done, I always wear a TNT jersey on the first and last ride day. It's to honor the organization that helped me find a passion for cycling and to remind myself when it gets tough going up a hill, think about someone who has won, is fighting and/or lost their battle to leukemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers.
The rubber meets the road for Day 1 of Cycle Washington tomorrow morning. I will talk to you all from Wenatchee, WA.
On Your Left!
